The Long Road

Patch 08-02

Your heroes now have grey eyes, a broad build, a name history picked at random, and a chronicle you can hold a finger on to read.

  • NEW: Every hero is born with a look. Eyes, hair, height, build — rolled from the parent card, worn all run, sealed onto the legacy forever. Zero effect on stats, ever. Red eyes are the chase: keep them, spread them, breed a line that shows nothing else. A rare look that fails to appear isn't lost — it rides hidden on the card (carries: violet eyes) and can resurface generations later. A grandmother's eyes, come back.
  • A line can run true. Breed a look pure for long enough and it locks in — that's what this family is now. And above it all: three mythical looks that only mutation grants. They can't be bought, and they never breed true. Fire has to be tended.
  • NEW: The Naming. In about one run in seven, history picks a hero. Three names rise, you choose one, and from then on that hero fights under it — KARGA, not ORC ROGUE. One per run, never inherited. The Remembered keeps every named hero forever, even after their card is released.
  • Hold a hero to read their chronicle. Long-press a hero anywhere and a short bio opens, written from what actually happened — their look, their line, their promise, their falls, how their road ended.
  • The battle report stopped counting air. Damage now shows what actually moved a health bar, with the wasted overkill shown in red underneath. Your nuker's numbers were always a little bit theater; now you can see how much.
  • Fights run from 0.5× to 5× — and the sound keeps up at every speed. Music is louder too.
  • HP is a number again. The camp token's health text was basically invisible; readable now, everywhere.
  • One promise was cut from the Bet. "I'll see this through" was trivially free on a caster and brutal on a front-liner — the same words were a different bet depending on who said them. Three others moved to the tier they actually belong in.
